What does this calculator tell you?
It identifies the sexagenary day pillar by converting your civil Gregorian date to a Julian Day Number, then maps that day to the sixty stem-branch combinations. The first character is your Day Master; the full chart still requires the year, month, hour, seasonal context, and relationships among all eight characters.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Day Master in BaZi?
The Day Master (日主), also called the Day Stem or Day Element, is the Heavenly Stem of your birth day's pillar. It is the primary reference point used to relate the other stems and branches in a BaZi chart, but it is not a complete personality description by itself.
Is my Day Master the same as my Chinese zodiac sign?
No. A Chinese zodiac sign usually refers to the animal branch of the birth year. The Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the birth day, calculated from the continuous sixty-day stem-branch cycle.
Can birth time change the calculated Day Master?
This tool calculates from the civil Gregorian date only. Some BaZi traditions change the day at midnight, while others treat the beginning of the Zi hour as the boundary. Births near that boundary require founder-reviewed time, location, and lineage rules.
Why might another BaZi calculator show a different result?
Differences can come from invalid date handling, timezone conversion, true solar time, the Zi-hour day boundary, or a different calendar convention. Use this result as an educational starting point until it has been checked against the founder's approved calculation standard.
