Inside the checklist

Clarity begins before calculation.

01

What is exact

Record the civil birth date and the location exactly as known.

02

What is remembered

Separate a documented time from a family memory or approximate hour.

03

What may change

Flag timezone, daylight-saving, midnight, and Zi-hour boundary questions for review.

04

What you want answered

Bring one present-day question so interpretation has a useful center.

Why this matters

Uncertainty is a boundary to explain—not something to hide.

A missing or approximate hour does not make every question meaningless. It changes what can be stated confidently. The responsible approach is to preserve the reliable pillars, identify what the hour may affect, and keep conditional interpretations visibly conditional.

Frequently asked

Prepare without pretending.

Can I receive a BaZi reading without an exact birth time?

Often, parts of a chart can still be discussed, but the hour pillar must remain conditional. A careful reader should tell you what is reliable and what the missing time may change.

Should I guess the closest traditional two-hour period?

No. Record the range or family memory as it was given. An estimate can be considered as an estimate, but it should never be silently presented as an exact chart input.

Why does birthplace matter?

Location can matter when reviewing timezone, daylight-saving history, and traditions that consider local or true solar time. The checklist helps preserve that context for review.
